Installation issue
« on: September 28, 2017, 01:28:51 AM »
Hello,
I tried to installed the script and I got error 403 so I commented out #Options FollowSymLinks in .htaccess and it cleared the issue.
Now I try to install the script by going to http://www.mysite.com/ and it redirect it to http://www.mysite.com/install/?user=install. So far it seems to be ok.
But the step 1 of the installation fail because:
Mysql support
Etano needs a MySql database to store all member information.

I probably read 10 times the doc and do not see anywhere where to enter the info of the database connection. I looked at all config files but could not figure it out.

Could you please help here.

The actual database connection info is entered in the next step.

In step 1 it checks your server environment for compatibility, if Mysql support isn't being detected then the likely cause is that Mysql isn't supported in your PHP and you'll probably need to contact your host for assistance.

Make sure that your server meets the system requirements required to properly install and run Etano:

I have a dedicated server and all the requirements are met except that I have MariaDB a variance of  MySQL with full compatibility (Mysqli is used).
I have no option on step 1 to go to step2 so i manually change the URL to step 2. SO now i get this error:
Server configuration does not allow db connections.

Well it's basically saying that that your server isn't configured properly to allow database connections. Unfortunately I really can't offer much help in how to properly setup and configure your server to allow database connections as different things could be involved. Could be anything from PHP not being properly complied for Msql databases, to php.ini files not being configured properly.

It would have been good if you have taken this issue as a potential bug. But seems it is not in your process to take these as a learning experience.
