not receive alert message
« on: December 09, 2016, 06:50:09 AM »
Hello
When a member registers, I do not receive an alert message. Yet everything is set in admin + my_account@mon_site.com email or test contact@mon_site.com but nothing !!!!
The members themselves, receive the alerts normally.
But not me !
Send me alerts when a new user joins? OK!

Thank you for your help

Make sure the email addresses used in the admin settings are for your domain, for example if your site is www.mysite.com then you must use an email address that's associated with your domain such as my_account@mysite.com as your email address, you can not use a an email address from another email host such as my_account@yahoo.com or my_account@gmail.com. You also must create these email addresses in your host account.

The email alerts are added to the email queue in the database in the dsb_queue_email table, the cron jobs sends the emails in the queue every 5 minutes so it's important that your hosting allows cron jobs to run every 5 minutes, some hosts don't allow cron jobs to run under 15 minutes.

Hello Maverick
I tried everything, set the cron spot to 5 mn, enter my mail in the database, because for the alerts it was not recorded ... But still no mail to warn me !!!! It's been 2 weeks that I'm going round in circles on this problem, an idea?

I don't know what you mean by spot.

 Make sure that your cron jobs are set at */5 * * * * and not 5 * * * *
*/5 is for every 5 mins and capable of running crons every 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 minutes.
If you have the cron set at 5 * * * it will only run every 5 minutes but will not run any cron jobs set at other intervals less than one hour, and the Etano script has some key cron jobs that need to be run every 5 and 10 minutes.

Make sure to carefully read the online instructions for setting up cron jobs:
http://www.datemill.com/etano/wiki/doku.php?id=setting_up_the_etano_cron_job_in_cpanel

The email address for the alerts is saved to the dsb_site_options3 table in the database. When you make settings in the site options be sure to click the "save" button at the bottom.

I really don't have any other ideas or suggestions besides what I've already mentioned. It works fine for me and as far as I know it's working for others as well.

One of the main causes of things not functioning properly are cron jobs not setup or functioning properly, and also hosting that doesn't fully support the script which includes cron jobs.

In your database in the dsb_queue_email table are the alert emails been stored? Can you see them?

You can bypass the alert email cron for registration alerts by editing events > processors > join.php

Change
Code: [Select]
      queue_or_send_email($config['alert_email'],$email);
To

Code: [Select]
       queue_or_send_email($config['alert_email'],$email,true);
Which will skip the queue and send the email straight away.

If you don't get the email then that would suggest the issue is more likely due to your email settings.

You can always contact your host to see if they can find the issue as they have access to more detailed logs.

I was having the same issue - i checked as instructed.  When we add TRUE in join.php it works well

But i have the following error log in server
Code: [Select]
/home/username/public_html/sitename/ajax/error_log:

PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/opt/php70/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20151012/mailparse.so' - /opt/php70/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20151012/mailparse.so: undefined symbol: zend_list_delete in Unknown on line 0

This is a server configuration issue and suggests that you're probably using PHP 7. Check what php version you're using, your host may have recently did some server updates or upgrades that changed the default php version for the Etano sites you're running.

If this turns out to be the case it would explain some of issues you've recently posted.

PHP   5.4.24
MySQL   5.6.32-78.1
Perl   5.26.0

This is the configuration of my server
-----------------------------------------
This is my Etano package Details

Module Name   Version   Type
Basic Features   2.30   Core
Default User Preferences   1.02   Core
Blogs   1.01   Core
Photo Album   1.02   Core
Advanced Features   1.01   Core
Random Items   1.04   Core
2CheckOut   1.01   Payment
Paypal   1.01   Payment
Maxmind   1.01   Fraud Check
Latest Blog Comments   1.01   Widget

So in confusion, whether i have to update the etano version or php version....

In the below which version may be best to etano

PHP 5.4
# Use PHP5.4 as default
        AddHandler application/x-httpd-php54 .php
PHP 5.4 Single php.ini
# Use PHP5.4 Single php.ini as default
        AddHandler application/x-httpd-php54s .php
PHP 5.4 FastCGI
# Use PHP54CGI as default
        AddHandler fcgid54-script .php

At present i am using the below single php in htaccess

# Use PHP5.4 Single php.ini as default

The error message basically says it can't find and load some extensions for php 7, which means some php 7 extensions are probably missing and since your not using php 7 they likely need to remedy the issue via the php.ini file. This is a sever issue and not something wrong with your Etano script which can only be fixed by your host.

I contacted host - they said you are still running with 5.4 as you are using handlers in htaccess ( My currect php version confirmed as 5.6) - They also said those issues are due to script

Searching solutions.. Lets see
