link field module question pertaining to https
« on: March 28, 2014, 01:43:16 AM »
In my profile fields, I have a link field module that I added. When editing the profile as a user, I tried inserting a website address containing HTTPS. But I then saw an error saying that only HTTP is allowed.

I found this similar topic:

Is it possible to set up the link field to allow HTTPS?
If you see that I'm logged in forever... it just means I turned the page on my browser and forgot to logout.

I have created the link field addon mod so it now accepts HTTP or HTTPS. The addon available in the Downloads for the Etano Project has been updated.

For those that don't know what the Link Field Addon is for or what it does, the module creates a new custom profile field that allows users to include a link to another website in their profile.

For those that are already using this addon and want to upgrade so it also accepts HTTPS, download the file and extract the "09field_link.class.php" file and replace the existing one in your "includes/classes/fields" folder with this new one.

Important Note - if you're going to back up the existing one be sure to move it out of the folder, if you just try re-naming the file and leave it in the folder you'll break your profile fields because the old and new one both contain code linked to the same profile field which will cause conflicts.
