Sorry guys, if they only took me a few weeks to develop I most likely would have made them free, but designing and coding a quality template for a complex CMS such as Etano, especially with some extra features, is an extremely time consuming endeavor. If anyone has hired a designer/developer to create a nice design for their site they will know how expensive it can be.
I know most people could never afford to hire a professional designer to create a nice Etano theme, therefore I invested the time to try and make some decent templates that would be affordable for most anyone to upscale their Etano site. If you shop around for premium templates for other CMS scripts such as Wordpress, I think you'll find my prices are well within line and reasonably priced. In fact I've added a lot of extra options that you don't often find in premium templates that allows the user to customize their template even further. Even if you're a professional designer my templates can be used as a foundation to save you countless hours of work trying to do things from scratch. The included manual alone would be a valuable asset in learning and working with the template basics.
I also understand some people are unable to, or simply don't want to spend any money, and I love freebies as much as the next person, but free can only go so far as designers and developers have expenses and bills to pay just like everyone else and can only afford to invest and donate so much of their time to a project without any return.
I'm actually hoping that other developers will see that I'm charging a modest fee for my templates and mods and it will give them some incentive to also create some cool mods or addons for Etano. I feel it's the best hope of getting more programmers and developers involved with the Etano project so the community can eventually have all the options, addons, and mods most people would like to see.
As for uploading mp3's, this is something I personally have little interest in creating because of the potential problems.
1. You'll need a dedicated server for this, most hosted plans either frown upon or don't allow video and mp3 storage or streaming on their servers.
2. Allowing members to upload mp3 music to your server can also land you in a lot of trouble for copyright infringements and lead to your host shutting your site down and deleting everything. Even Google was facing law suits for this, and so were sites like Playlist.com. They eventually reached a settlement and an agreement with music distributors where they can now legally host mp3 music.
