Patch 1.18 is coming in 1-2 days. I am creating the package now and test everything, it's quite a lengthy task...

After making only one main photo from public to private, after 5 minutes is error in basic search (image not found):

in other words: this error is displayed 5 min after changing photo status, after 10 min all is ok.

Maybe you can say more about it:
"...One critical vulnerability has been fixed which allowed hackers to gain access to your site..."

Is it vulnerability in /admin section or in other site modules?

It was during the photo uploading process, in the members area. Nobody can access your admin panel unless they know your admin password.

Sorry but I found new bug :)

It is issue with Internet explorer only, with Firefox all is ok.

After edditing fields with internet explorer (I use 8 version) and saving, additional empty field is included included. Only with firefox it can be fixed.
I know you prefer Firefox, but I don't know about this issue previuos, and this happened to all my fields and after fixing and regenerating some registered first users missed values in other fields... :(

I tried to update to the new patch 1.18 and got this error message...

Event     Message
diff: /home/nzadult/public_html/tmp/packages/43core1.18/117118.diff    Cannot apply patch because the source file (/home/nzadult/public_html/includes/common.inc.php) is changed. Line 77 in diff file.

What do I have to do to fix it?

this was to me too :)
I've added to this file other accepted currency, after this error I delete custom currency, and all was ok.
Maybe you was added some other customisations, I don't know. You can compare original file from base etano installation with your file and correct.

Hey Johnboy;

Yes, once you start doing customizations, especially to any php based based files, then it's likely new version patches won't work and you'll have to manually do the updates. Manually updating requires going through the DIFF file and noting the changes to each file then manually editing the changes in the appropriate files, then uploading files.

Depending on how large the patch is, it can sometimes be a bit of a tedious and time consuming task. It also helps to at least somewhat understand what the edits mean and know what customizations have been done so you don't break something.

I've had to manually update since the beta version. In the beta and early versions patches were quite frequent which sometimes made it a bit of a chore updating all the time, but updates aren't as frequent so it's not that big of a deal anymore. The average update takes me about 2 hours.

Ok before I start this, please note, I have the greatest respect for Dan and his product, and he has been very fair in any dealings I have had with him.
........... but as time goes on the more and more I am beginning to feel that Etano was released way too early, it still isn't a finished product. The custom jobs I have had done were mainly getting features done that are stock standard features on most dating software, and were standard features on DSB. Things such as Admin being notified when a new member joins(fairly critical if you ask me) a popup on the header when someone has new mail(which has now disappeared since the last update), plus other minor stuff I can't even remember as its been so long now. The only feature I had customised that I feel shouldnt be stock standard was getting flashchat integrated into etano, I feel thats fair enough.

Now I remember manually doing one of the updates and it took me hours and I didnt do it right and in the end I had to pay Dan to fix it. Gee Maverick if it takes someone with your skills and efficiency 2 hrs per update, it will take me at least double that and I would probably stuff it up, so, what is my ONLY choice, but to pay Dan to do it.

To me that means the price of Etano isn't $180 its $180 plus custom jobs to get it to an acceptable level to operate efficiently, plus I will have to pay Dan everytime a update happens as I have had custom jobs done, that were not really custom jobs, they were adding features that should of been there from the start.

Now I findout that if I do not update to 1.18 my site can be hacked, due to some sort of security flaw in the software. So I HAVE TO update, and I will have to pay Dan to do it, as I do not have the skills to do it. Most software updates automatically.

I don't want to sound like a whinging whining unappreciative tosser, but I really think ETANO was released before it was finished, and I have to pay for it, and will have to keep on paying everytime there is an update. I am not aware of any other software that works like that.

Am I the only person who feels like this? OR Is it because I am not as skilled as many of the other Etano webmasters and I am ignorant as to what is required to run a dating site?  :|
